German Visa Info for Bangladeshi Students 2023

To study at a German university as a Bangladeshi student, it is necessary to apply for a Type D German study visa, specifically designed for students. While master's programs in Germany are free, students from Bangladesh must have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher to be eligible. Deserving students may also apply for full scholarships.

Entry requirements for higher studies at German universities

For undergraduate studies, students must have an HSC completion certificate from any Bangladeshi university, and a maximum study gap of 1.5 years is accepted. The HSC result must not be below a GPA of 4.00 out of 5.00. Postgraduate students must have a Bachelor's result (Hons. BSc, BBA, BA) that is not below a CGPA of 3.

Language proficiency is also important for admission, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 required for English medium study and a B2 level required for German language study.

To apply for a German study visa, students must provide several documents, including a passport-sized photo, CV, IELTS certificate, medium of instruction certificate (for Masters), two recommendation letters (for Masters), a personal letter of motivation stating career objectives (for Masters), and attestation of all academic certificates and transcripts by the Education Board. Health insurance for one year is also required.

To obtain a German student visa, it is recommended to apply at least three months before the start of classes, with a typical processing time of up to 42 days. The visa fee is 75 EUR, which can be paid online or at the visa office in Bangladesh. Additionally, Bangladeshi students must pay a yearly residence permit fee of 110 EUR.

Finally, students must show proof of financial resources by blocking €11,208 in a personal bank account at a German bank. This amount can be withdrawn on a monthly basis once the student is in Germany.
